Standard 6: External Development Leadership
A school executive will design structures and processes that result in community engagement, support, and ownership. Acknowledging that schools no longer reflect but, in fact, build community, the leader proactively creates with staff, opportunities for parents/guardians, community, and business representatives to participate as “stockholders” in the school such that continued investment of resources and good will are not left to chance.
Element 6A: Parent and Community Involvement and Outreach
Working with others to engage parents and all community stakeholders is an important aspect of being an administrator. At Franklinton Middle School, I worked with our teachers to meet parents at events such as Campus Clean Up and the Franklinton 5K. These activities allowed our staff the opportunity to be seen in the community and supporting our school.

Element 6B: Federal, State and District Mandates
As Transportation Coordinator, I ensured that buses were signed into campus each day. I met with drivers each morning to discuss mechanical issues that needed to be reported and to document the number of students they transported to school. This sheet was then faxed to the transportation department by 9 o'clock each morning.
